Moody Sonnets: November 2026

Étienne-Louis Boullée, he of the great-

Bellied, triple-tree-feathered New-

ton Cenotaph, unbuilt like all his weight-

y spheres, cubes and pyramids of immense beau-

ty, would have been stunned by the majestic Airbus

A380’s double-deck, floored

By its laser-welded alloys, and non-plus-

sed by how half a million kilos soared,

Floating, as if by magic. Nor do we

Know why: pure Bernoulli fails (planes can fly

Upside-down) and Isaac’s Third, though key,

Is incomplete. And yet we ride the sky.

A visionary architect was buoyed by joy and love;

Our daily faith keeps airframes in the heavens above.
